I gopher proof beds I plant in with chicken wire. It works great! But with natives here & there, you might not want to take the trouble of making the small basket. If not, then I’d recommend either planting daffodils, which they hate, next to your plant. Or, getting a trap & catching them to release into the wild. I don’t like to trap but a friend had great success with this. Once she trapped the first gopher, other gophers seemed to get “the word” and she was good after that. Try the gopher proofing first.

Nice to visit a SoCal native garden - I have also never tried Woolly Blue Curls, maybe this fall I'll take the plunge! Your blooms are just gorgeous. Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm. I'm also on the path of learning about natives, and it is endlessly fascinating.

Clearly you have the magic touch for woolly bluecurls. They only last about 1 - 2 years in my garden... :~( And they are too expensive to treat like annuals. Oh well. Your garden looks beautiful!

Lorraine,
Thanks for posting this! We are all very excited about this event and I am very much looking forward to hearing the speakers myself (and eating the food - mostly donated by local farmers!)
